Chemical Purge Tip: Put The Heat Where You Need The Help

When using a chemical purge compound, remember to help the chemical action do the work.  If you have a difficult area to clean, put the heat to it.  When starting the color change, heat up the nozzle.  Raise the nozzle temp 50-75°F.  The extra heat will mean extra cleaning with a heat-activated chemical purging compound.  Put the heat where you need the help.

Are you purging through a hot runner?  Bump up the heat.  Some extra heat in the hot runner will help the chemical purge break up that carbon buildup.  Put the heat where you need the help.

Are you an extruder with a hard-to-clean spider die?  Put the heat where you need the help.  Raise the die temperature while you’re purging through it.  It will clean out faster and get you back into production sooner.

Take advantage of heat-activated chemical purging compounds.  They can be very effective at attacking stubborn areas of your process, and getting you to your next color faster.  Put the heat where you need the help.
