CP Grade
Basic Olefinic

CP Grade is an olefinic-based purging compound designed for basic polypropylene and polyethylene color/resin changes for thermoplastic injection molding and extrusion machines. Asaclean®'s CP Grade purging compound is also suitable for fast and effective purging of hot runner systems.

Processing Temperature Range:

170°C-300°C (340°F-570°F)

    Features

    Good compatibility to olefinic resins.

CP Grade's polypropylene-based purging compound is a cost-effective match for those olefinic-based resins in injection molding and extrusion. CP Grade is a good choice for simple changeovers, preventative purge programs, and jobs where residue and severe contamination aren’t a concern.

    Easily displaced by olefinic resins.

CP Grade features basic purging to and from polypropylene-based resins within the processing temperature range.

    Benefits

    • Suitable for color & material changes
    • Polypropylene-based purge
    • Excellent compatibility with olefinic resins
    • Easily displaced by olefinic resins
    • Economical grade
    • Useful for sealing prior to shutdowns
    • No chemical reaction
    • No soak time required

    Applications

    Usage Information

    Temperature Range 170°C to 300°C to (340°F to 570°F)
Minimum Clearance Requires 0.5 mm (0.020") clearance for hot runner gates and extrusion dies; 100-mesh is required for extrusion screen packs.
Amount of Purge Typically 1-2 system capacities (actual amount depends on degree of contamination)
Applications Injection Molding - including hot runners
Extrusion - profile, sheet, cast film & compounding
Types of Resin Purging to and from polypropylene-based resins within the processing temperature range

    Tips

    • For maximum performance, Asaclean® CP Grade should not be diluted with other materials.
    • Asaclean® CP Grade does not work by chemical reaction, so there is no soak time or hold-up time required for an effective purge.
    • Asaclean® CP Grade works best with maximum agitation. Use the maximum safe screw speed and, for thermoplastic injection molding, also use maximum safe back pressure with the screw in the most forward position.
